EV and electronics component movement (Foxconn Hosur, Tata Electronics). Return loads from Chennai port to Bengaluru warehouses. Shorter inter-state runs than NH-44 corridor but consistent volume.
Nagpur is India's geographic freight hub — Zero Mile on NH-44 and NH-6. Hyderabad-Vijayawada industrial corridor is growing. Bulk cement and pharma loads prominent.
Eastern corridor: coal, steel, and port container movement. Odisha and Jharkhand mining-area loads on NH-16 and NH-49. Seasonal surge during harvest for agricultural commodity movement.

Not the brochure version. The actual block-by-block reality of the role on a typical Tuesday.
Pre-trip DVIR inspection at Chakan loading yard: tyre pressure and tread on all 10 wheels, air brake pressure gauge, engine oil and coolant levels, all lights and horn, load seal integrity, and cabin fire extinguisher. Takes 25-30 minutes before accepting trip advance.
Verify lorry receipt, e-way bill validity period (check expiry vs. expected delivery date), and laden weight slip against axle load limits. Load the trip advance cash onto the FASTag wallet and note the fuel level baseline in the trip log.
Depart Chakan. Navigate NH-48 through Nashik bypass, cross the Dhule HPCL highway pump for a full-tank diesel fill (noting odometer). Pass Maharashtra–Rajasthan border at Dahod around noon — present national permit, e-way bill, and fitness certificate at the RTO check post.
Handle Rajasthan border check post near Dungarpur: RTO officer inspects permit, insurance, PUC, and weighbridge slip. Cross-check e-way bill number on the GST portal handheld. Resolve a minor e-way bill item-description mismatch by calling the consignor for a portal correction.
WhatsApp update to dispatcher: current location Chittorgarh, estimated arrival Manesar 10 AM tomorrow. Dispatcher confirms factory gate opens at 9 AM — adjust pace plan. Confirm backload availability from Panipat for the return trip.
Overnight rest stop at a dhaba near Chittorgarh bypass. Secure vehicle, check cargo seals, log odometer and fuel consumed. Eat dinner, note the AIS-140 GPS unit is transmitting correctly to the fleet TMS app. Sleep in the cabin — engine off.
Resume from Chittorgarh. Navigate Kota bypass and enter Rajasthan–Haryana corridor. Stage at Manesar industrial area before 9 AM, observe the Delhi NCR heavy vehicle time-ban window, then proceed to Narela warehouse for unloading at the assigned dock bay.
Unloading complete. Collect signed POD (Proof of Delivery) on LR copy; photograph any damaged carton for insurance record. Submit trip expenses (fuel, toll receipts) to dispatcher via TMS app. Accept Panipat backload assignment for return journey.

The traps real practitioners wish someone had named for them in year one. Read these before you commit, not after.
Joining a small unorganised fleet operator for slightly higher per-trip payment
Ignoring the HMV licence upgrade and staying on LCV/MGV vehicles
Driving beyond safe hours under consignor or dispatcher pressure
Spending trip advances at dhabas and not saving toward a truck down payment
Not specialising in a high-value cargo niche
Ignoring digital freight platforms as a self-employed tool
The upside that makes this work worth it, set honestly against the parts people quietly resent. Both sides, before you commit.
Straight answers to what people genuinely wonder before stepping into this work — no brochure spin.
