Steady demand — India's district judiciary has a sanctioned strength of ~25,000 judges against an actual strength of ~19,000 as of 2025, leaving ~6,000 vacancies. Each state High Court releases recruitment cycles every 1-3 years. The Law Commission and Supreme Court have repeatedly urged vacancy filling; political will to expand judicial capacity has increased since the 2024 All India Judicial Services debate. Long-term, introduction of AIJS (All India Judicial Service) or expanded state cadres will increase absolute intake.
