Interior Designers in India plan, design, and execute the interiors of residential homes, commercial offices, hospitality spaces (hotels, restaurants, cafés), retail stores, and increasingly co-working / co-living spaces — managing concept design, drawings, material selection, vendor sourcing, contractor coordination, and on-site execution. The Indian path runs through National Institute of Design Ahmedabad, NIFT (Interior Design specialisation), CEPT University Ahmedabad, Sir J J School of Architecture Mumbai, School of Planning and Architecture Delhi, Pearl Academy, ARCH College of Design Jaipur, IIID-accredited diploma colleges, and 1-2 year postgrad programs at Symbiosis Institute of Design or NID. Workplaces span established architecture-and-interior firms — Hafeez Contractor (architect with significant interior practice), Studio Lotus, Beyond Designs Delhi, Khosla Associates Bangalore, RMA Architects Mumbai, Sanjay Puri Architects, Morphogenesis, SJK Architects, Talati and Partners; tech-enabled interior platforms (Livspace, HomeLane, Asian Paints' Beautiful Homes, Bonito Designs, FlatHomes, Pepperfry Interio, Urban Ladder); residential / hospitality / retail freelance practice; in-house interior teams at hotel chains (Taj, Oberoi, Marriott, Hyatt) and corporate offices. Pay scales widely vary — entry interior designer ₹2.5-5L at firms / ₹3-7L at Livspace/HomeLane platforms; mid-senior at established firms ₹6-15L; senior project managers and design heads ₹15-40L; firm founders / partners with profitable practices ₹50L-3Cr; signature residential designers (Sussanne Khan, Gauri Khan, Twinkle Khanna's The White Window) command ₹20L-2Cr per project.
